Haliod propels optical craftsmanship to new and exhilarating heights with design innovations that conjure the expressive gestures and elegant proportions of ancient Japanese calligraphy. This riff on the traditionally conservative P3 silhouette features a continuous titanium wire exoskeleton that gracefully dips and meanders around titanium-cupped lens rims. The unbroken structure represents a dramatic evolution in DITA’s design vocabulary, made possible by advances in material and manufacturing processes; the undulating wire frame recalls the free-flowing strokes of sousho, a calligraphic tradition in which form supersedes readability as the artist’s brush rarely leaves the page. Haliod’s groundbreaking engineering extends all the way to its finishing touches. Custom inverted nose pads and Japanese temple tips have been engineered for effortless comfort; other finely crafted details, like the ultra thin titanium wire temple tips, flow gracefully into the frame’s exoskeleton by utilizing many of DITA’s most recognizable production techniques, such as its proprietary hex screw hinges. The filigree physicality of the final product celebrates DITA’s ability to infuse even the most familiar forms with expressive new energy.
